Anna Bindler was awarded the “Wissenschaftspreis Opferschutz 2023” (only in German) by WEISSER RING and Bundeskriminalamt for her publication ‘Scaring or Scarring? Labor Market Effects of Criminal Victimization’. The prize was awarded jointly with the BKA for the first time on Wednesday in Mainz. Anna Bindler, together with her colleague Nadine Ketel, calculated the costs of crime for individuals, but also for society as a whole, based on Dutch data. Some of the results of the research could certainly be applied to Germany, says Bindler. ‘I feel the award is a very great appreciation of our work and also a sign that we have really reached the people, the organizations and institutions we want to reach with our research.’
