Like most New Year’s resolutions, the hope generated by the Paris climate accord last month will fade into disappointment. (…) A very insightful volume, published just a few months ago, lays out the missing components. The volume is titled Global Carbon Pricing: We Will If You Will, and its contributors include economists William Nordhaus, recent president of the American Economic Association who has been studying climate change for decades, and Nobel laureates Joseph Stiglitz and Jean Tirole. The authors of the introductory chapters that lay out the framework of the book are David MacKay, Peter Cramton, Axel Ockenfels, and Steven Stoft.
