The prize is awarded to outstanding young researchers in the humanities and human sciences in memory of the renowned Austrian-Jewish Romanist and literary theorist Leo Spitzer. The Leo Spitzer Prize for Junior Researchers is endowed with 30,000 \u20ac over a period of two years and has been awarded by the University of Cologne since 2013 to promote top-level research.
